The global oil and gas industry is currently experiencing an influx of pain points. A perpetually increasing energy demand, fluctuating prices, rapidly depleting natural resources, and social and environmental concerns only tap the surface. The Euro Zone crisis and a lagging U.S. recovery following the global economic fallout are impacting oil and gas organizations worldwide, causing investors to look to emerging markets for opportunities in the coming years. As one of the most resource-rich destinations on earth, Africa has come under the spotlight.

In Africa, economic and political uncertainty on top of fluctuating energy prices and weak infrastructures have hindered growth in the past, but in recent years the commodities boom and increased investment in infrastructure have seen a resurgence of growth. Countries across the continent boast world-leading endowments of natural resources and as yet untapped potential, with new discoveries continually changing the continents industry landscape.

Recent onshore and offshore opportunities in Mozambique, Kenya and Tanzania are attracting the attention of foreign investors and sparking word of an oil and gas boom on the east coast. Ghana has emerged as an oil and gas destination with Enis recent high-quality discovery in partnership with oil trader Vitol, and Uganda has gotten attention as another promising new destination with recent discoveries yielding more oil than previously thought to exist in the country.
